Cabaret Extreme Policy on Sustainable Events

Introduction
At Circus Cabaret, our mission is to deliver exceptional entertainment and educational experiences for visitors across the United Kingdom. We recognise the importance of sustainable development and are committed to preserving natural resources and protecting the environment across all our operations, including Corporate Business Functions and Public Events.
We affirm that sustainable practices will be fully supported by our Company Directors, Senior Management, and key staff members.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Cabaret Extreme aims to:
- Stage events in accordance with sustainable development principles
- Protect and preserve open spaces and natural resources
- Support local suppliers to strengthen local economies
- Reduce environmental impacts from circus operations
Environmental Targets
Cabaret Extreme has established ambitious environmental targets:
- 30% reduction in environmental impact by October 2025
- 50% reduction by October 2026
- 75% reduction by October 2028
- 100% reduction (net-zero emissions for direct operations) by October 2030
While progress was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we remain firmly committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in alignment with the UK's national targets.
Energy Use and Efficiency
Many Cabaret Extreme venues require generators to supply electricity. We are implementing the following measures:
- Generators to operate from 7:00am to 12:00 midnight only; outside these hours, stored energy (e.g., battery power) will be used
- Priority to transition generators towards biofuel and carbon-neutral technologies as they become viable
Heating requirements at events will be met through phased adoption of biofuel sources where available.
Sustainable Transport
We recognise that transportation is a major part of our environmental impact. Cabaret Extreme is taking the following steps:
- Heavy goods vehicles will use biodiesel wherever achievable
- All biodiesel used is sourced from UK suppliers, ensuring a sustainable and ethical supply chain
Staff and Artist Accommodation
Cabaret Extreme operates as both a business and a living community during tours.
Accommodation units (caravans) provide a significantly lighter environmental impact compared to traditional fixed dwellings.
Studies show that:
- Caravans are mobile, compact, and more energy-efficient to heat
- Water and electricity usage is substantially lower
Average water consumption in our touring accommodations:
- Approximately 4 gallons (17.8 litres) per person per day, including drinking, washing, and toilet use
The circus way of life is inherently resource-conscious and environmentally friendly.
Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
Cabaret Extreme is committed to continuously measuring and improving our environmental performance across all activities.
We will review this policy annually and update it to reflect changes in legislation, technology, and best practice.
